We are drawn by faith through grace to use our talents, giftings, and passion to tell our story in a way that glorifies God and reflects His love and forgiveness to the world. We are called to empower Christians to tell their story, thus impacting others to seek and grow in Christ!

I am Faithdrawn. You are Faithdrawn. We are Faithdrawn together.

“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”

-Henry Ford

“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith;...”

Romans 12:4-6

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

We are not meant to live life alone. Worshiping God through the use of our gifts, talents, and passions is a wonderful privilege, but doing so together can only be a greater one. By working together and becoming one body we can only achieve greater success and move The Kingdom forward better.

Becoming one body does not mean that we are all working on one shared body of work, but rather that we are all contributing to each individual body of work as we form and utilize what I like to call “liquid teams”.

Liquid Teams is the spirit of collaboration in which one observes a need, he or she should pray about how they can fill it to help others accomplish their dreams of glorifying God with their art and then act upon it, following through whatever level of contribution they have agreed to. This is also beneficial to the contributor as he or she will ideally be furthered in their knowledge and skill and brought closer to the Lord and others than before.

“Everyone you meet knows something you don’t.”

-Bill Nye

I would also like to propose that anyone who wants to may have their own version of this movement with their own branding. Kingdom Arts, #WeAreFaithdrawn are the two that I’m currently aware of that have the same vision and are trying to employ the five pillars I’m proposing here but with their own branding.

The idea is that without a logo or brand mark we can facilitate a “Collective” or a very loose and decentralized command structure that operates on ideas rather than directives" not unlike Anonymous but certainly without the hacktivist spin. The goal is to cast a much wider net with multiple branding strategies and marketing campaigns that all agree upon and consistently employ the five pillars in order to work in unity as one larger body.

This way, no one who currently has branding and an individual calling or mission towards this has to give it up. I believe that with one brand or logo mark it will causes many issues such as casting a smaller net, legal paperwork needing to be filed, and titles needing to be in place so that there is a command structure.

I personally see such a structure as being susceptible to the elements of time. It can be destroyed or controlled over time. It can be ‘killed’. What I’m proposing can and will transcend these issues because ideas about how to succeed in our very niche arena can not be captured or killed, nor do they belong to anyone.

We should also do our best to continually promote one another's efforts in order to increase exposure. Retweeting, sharing, reposting, mentions, etc.

Skill Trading is the core of the Collaborative pillar. As previously mentioned, praying about and filling a Collective member's needs and also reciprocating if someone fills a need of yours.

I'm personally creating and maintaining a Skill Trade Database as a part of my individual branding to show some of the ways that we can all work together and share resources and collaborate while maintaining separate brand identities as the Collective currently has and hopefully never has a centralized branding as to prevent our reach from narrowing.

Should you decide to contribute to the Skill Trade Database, Faithdrawn Studios reserves the right to act as a discerning conduit between you and others in need of your skills.

Faithdrawn Studios agrees to use your information responsibly and respectfully. Your information will never be posted publicly.

You may withdraw your information from this database at any time and for any reason.

Thank you for your willingness to participate in a collaborative effort that has the potential to unite individuals and brands like in our effort to make games that glorify God.

The second pillar is discipleship. Each member of the collective should agree in some fashion that their mission is to make disciples. After all, that is our life’s purpose. To love God and love others the way He would love them. To bring others into the understanding that He is Sovereign, and to bring others closer who feel defeated.

A primary focus should be on constant discussion how we can utilize storytelling, gameplay, music and all other forms of art within game development to realize this discipleship focus. We will find that everyone has a different idea of what that should look like and how to go about bringing it to life, but the core is that we agree upon a common ground.

Fellowship encompasses many things. Firstly, the discussion about how we ought to implement the discipleship mission is done through continuous fellowship with one another.

“not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

  • Hebrews 10:25

“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”

  • Proverbs 27:17

We ought to try to have scheduled meetings to further this initiative (Avengers, Assemble?) and do our best to create a list of topics and goals to be sure we’re progressing in our mission of bringing this coalition to fruition.

Another branch of Fellowship is spiritual growth and accountability. The art is only as Christ centered as the individuals making it. If we fail to acknowledge this vital piece of the puzzle then we have no reason to create and if we do create something, it will not stand out from the crowd. We should be determined to meet together frequently to pray and be in the Word in order to understand the Lord’s heart better and ask how He desires for us to implement our walk with Him into our art and also to realign or stay continually aligned with His Will for our personal lives.

Our art is a reflection of the people we are and become, so to create something in the name of Jesus and then to be misaligned with that artistic expression in our private lives is truly the worst thing we could do. It is akin to speaking and then betraying our words and moral alignment.

Just as God is excellent, so too should we be in order to properly reflect His character and plans to those who observe us. This means that we need to employ the industry’s best practices for creating our art and hold each other accountable to excellence. If something is less than excellent and will be consumer facing, we need to approach each other in firm love and make this known. As you can see, every pillar works perfectly together and must continue to. We collaborate in order to disciple others. We understand how to do this through fellowship, which incidentally is also how we strive for excellence. By building those relationships over time in fellowship we can better approach each other and prime one another for excellence without stirring up anger.

Resource Sharing will be core to our success in achieving excellence. I would like to create a Resource Library that everyone can dump things into and categorize so that we can reference it as we learn and grow together.

I would like to propose that just as I think we can cast a much wider net with multiple branding efforts as we see fit, I think that the resources should be shared all directions and that if each of us has our own resource center we should link to one another to show that we are all working together. This also achieves us bringing visitors deeper and deeper into our rabbit hole or network of creators so that they can explore more of the Collective.

If you click HERE you can see that I've modeled my Resource Center after what I hope we can all achieve together. It's certainly in its infancy, but I've always been drawn to the idea of having something like this set up.

Given the vast array of things we’ve spoken here about, I believe that if implemented properly, and maintained with the same spirit over time, we can, for the first time have a much larger impact on the industry and on the world than we have seen thus far. Yes, we have had many individual runaway successes from the group and they’ve certainly left their mark on the world, but we can achieve a much larger impact together than apart, and that will always remain true.

I also believe that we SHOULD strive to be influential. The more influential we are, the larger impact we can have on hearts and minds worldwide.

It’s time to create an industry standard for Christians in game development and design. One that both captivates and entertains anyone who sees it in action. One that is unashamed, but one that can choose whether or not to be overt with the Message and despite that choice, because the spirit of the ones who are pushing it forward daily is aligned with the Lord’s Heart, is still difinitively Christian.

Needless to say it's not called The Collective. These five pillars are certainly up for debate, discussion and reformation, and anything said here is simply written as my contribution to the conversation. I think it's fascinating that we have all come to the same understanding that there's a need for such an initiative and that so many small clusters of the same conversation have been occurring throughout the community. I say it's time we dive head first into this.

Join The Movement.
